Reviving Lenovo Yoga Tab 2 830LC (Not turning on nor charging)

I experienced a weird thing on my newly bought Lenovo Yoga Tab 2 830LC a few months ago. I am sharing on this blog the workaround I did to revive my tablet. I hope to help others in the same situation. You don't need to send it to a service center as you just need a screwdriver and this tutorial.

My family and I were on a staycation when this weird thing happened. I was using my tablet when it turned off as the battery reached 0%. I immediately charged it and left it charging the whole night. When I turned it on the next day, it vibrated and I had seen it booted up. After 10 minutes, the tablet was turned off again. I tried turning it on again but it was not responding. Charging it up did not also work for me. I waited for more than a week hoping it would turn on again but I waited in vain, no matter how long I press the power button and charge it up.

I'd read a number of posts of users in the same situation. Some suggested (1) holding the power button for more than 60 seconds, (2) doing a hard reset, and (3) waiting for the battery to totally drain and to charge it up. None of these worked for me. Until I encountered this YouTube video :

Many Lenovo Tab users had experienced a technical glitch that when the tablet's battery is drained, the device needs a battery reset. To do a battery reset, you need to:

(1) open up the device by using a small screwdriver;
(2) trace the battery cable connected to the motherboard;
(3) remove the battery cable from the board;
(4) then press the power button for 20 seconds;
(5) re-attach the battery cable to the board; and
(6) try turning on the device before returning the back cover.

How to remove the back cover of Lenovo Yoga Tab 2 and its battery cable? Follow this simple guide: Disassemble a Lenovo Yoga Tab 2.

After following these steps, I was able to revive my tablet without needing to send it to a service center and pay for the service.

I hope this will help others facing the same issue. Thanks. ðŸ˜Š
